The Media Systems Engineer II (PH) position focuses on architecting, designing, and constructing the varied technical platforms that power our linear and digital platforms. This role involves working closely under the direction of more senior engineers and 3rd party partners to develop technology that efficiently and effectively delivers on the requirements set forth by technical, business or operations leaders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architecting, designing, sourcing, and constructing media technology environments
- Resolving issues affecting production, broadcast, and content distribution
- Analyzing and troubleshooting streaming audio/video signals and cloud platforms
- Managing third-party service providers
- Specifying and procuring equipment within budget guidelines
- Developing long-range plans for future media technology needs
- Providing operational support for audio and video production/distribution systems
- Participating in complex engineering projects and system upgrades
- Conducting peer training and development sessions
Required qualifications:
- 3-4 years of relevant experience in leading others in design/build, uptime, and stability of live media production and distribution environments
- Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or equivalent
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, NodeJS, Bash, PowerShell)
- Knowledge of SMPTE standards, cloud-based infrastructure, compression techniques, and major media systems
- Experience with broadcast control room equipment, Evertz software control systems, and IP-based broadcast equipment
The hiring range for this position in California is $78,900 to $105,700 per year, with additional benefits and potential bonuses.
