Description For Ride Control Systems Engineer

Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is seeking a Ride Control Systems Engineer to join their innovative team. This role combines creative engineering with cutting-edge technology to create unforgettable theme park experiences. As a Ride Control Systems Engineer, you'll work within WDI's Ride Studio on project teams, responsible for all aspects of ride control system design and implementation. The position involves integrating mechanical, electrical, and software systems, from concept to commissioning, for innovative ride platforms.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in control systems engineering, safety-related system design, and industrial automation. You'll work in a collaborative environment where you'll design and implement control systems for complex ride systems, develop control strategies, perform safety assessments, and lead testing efforts. The role requires both technical expertise and creative problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities For Ride Control Systems Engineer

  • Work on a team to conceive, design, & deliver control systems for ride systems
  • Conduct systems engineering for ride control systems
  • Define system use cases and user needs
  • Develop requirements and functional specifications
  • Perform hazard assessments and failure modes analysis
  • Ensure compliance with control system safety standards
  • Develop control strategies and algorithms
  • Design, model, and analyze electrical and data communication systems
  • Define control system and network architectures
  • Develop verification and validation strategies
  • Lead testing efforts

Requirements For Ride Control Systems Engineer

Python
Linux
  • 4+ years of experience with control systems for electromechanical systems
  • Experience in safety-related system design
  • Knowledge of control processors and communication networks
  • Proficient in Rockwell and/or Beckhoff automation systems
  • Understanding of communication protocols (TCP/IP, CAN, etc.)
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering
  • Physics Coursework required
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
