Walt Disney Animation Studios is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Production Technology team for a 12-month contract position in Vancouver. This role sits at the intersection of creativity and technology, where you'll be developing user-facing tools and back-end solutions for media management and video playback applications.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work in a highly collaborative environment, directly interfacing with artists, production leadership, and technical directors. You'll be responsible for developing and maintaining critical playback and review tools that are essential to the creative process of animation production. The role involves working with proprietary tools like dpix and customizing industry-standard software like Autodesk's RV.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience in developing complex user-facing software, strong Python programming skills, and expertise in database management. Understanding of studio production processes and familiarity with OpenColorIO, OpenImageIO, or OpenTimelineIO would be advantageous. The role offers competitive compensation ranging from C$130,000 to C$157,000 per year, along with comprehensive benefits.

  • Develop and extend the API of dpix, proprietary media management application
  • Improve and create new customizations of RV, Autodesk's Playback App
  • Implement advanced Color Pipeline
  • Develop real-time synced reviews between desktop and mobile devices

Requirements For Senior Software Engineer - Media Management Tools [Contract]

Python
  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years designing and developing complex user-facing software, ideally in a studio environment
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Proficiency developing back-end data management solutions utilizing SQL and/or NoSQL databases
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
