Description For Software Engineer I

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Software Engineer I to join their Living Room Devices, Native Client Platform (NCP Client) engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the Disney+ streaming platform, building applications that deliver content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Hulu, ESPN, NatGeo, and ABC News to millions of viewers worldwide.

As a Software Engineer I, you'll be part of the team developing client applications for PlayStation, Xbox, cable set-top-boxes, and smart TVs using the Rust programming language. The role involves working on various aspects of the streaming experience, from onboarding flows to browse interfaces and video playback features. You'll collaborate with multiple teams and partners while contributing to both the core application and supporting tools.

Responsibilities For Software Engineer I

  • Be a member of a team of engineers responsible for building client app experiences in the Rust programming language
  • Contribute to the development of new application features from on-boarding to browse UI/UX experiences, analytics, video playback UI/UX
  • Contribute to the development of tools and systems outside of the Disney+ app
  • Work with Sony, Microsoft, and other partners to vet new hardware, firmware, and certification requirements
  • Collaborate with client SDK engineering, design engineering, services engineering teams and product owners
