Description For Software Engineer I

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Software Engineer I to join their Living Room Devices, Native Client Platform (NCP Client) engineering team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on Disney+ Direct-to-Consumer client app development for PlayStation, Xbox, cable set-top-boxes, and smart TVs.

The position is part of Disney's broader technology initiative, where engineering meets creativity to build world-class products that serve millions globally. You'll be working on streaming solutions for major brands including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, ABC, and more, developing applications that deliver content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic.

As a Software Engineer I, you'll be instrumental in building client app experiences using the Rust programming language, working with front-end technologies, and implementing UI/UX features. The role involves collaboration with major partners like Sony and Microsoft, and interaction with various engineering teams to deliver optimal viewing experiences.

The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in front-end development, object-oriented programming, and modern development tools. Responsibilities For Software Engineer I

  • Build client app experiences in the Rust programming language
  • Develop new application features from on-boarding to browse UI/UX experiences
  • Contribute to analytics and video playback UI/UX development
  • Work with Sony, Microsoft, and other partners to vet new hardware, firmware, and certification requirements
  • Collaborate with client SDK engineering, design engineering, services engineering teams and product owners
  • Implement reusable utilities and UI components

Requirements For Software Engineer I
