Description For Software Engineer II - ABC News Roku

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is seeking a Software Engineer II to join their ABC News Mobile and Living Room Device team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on the ABC News Direct-to-Consumer client app for Roku streaming devices and smart TVs, reaching millions of viewers daily.

The position involves working with cutting-edge streaming technology, where you'll be responsible for building client app experiences using BrightScript and the Roku SceneGraph SDK. You'll be part of a team that pushes the boundaries of what's possible on 10-foot devices, contributing to everything from onboarding experiences to video playback UI/UX.

As a Software Engineer II, you'll have the chance to work on diverse technical challenges, including JavaScript & React-based web tools, gulp build scripts, AWS configurations, and Node.js services. The role requires collaboration with various teams, including client SDK engineering, design engineering, and services engineering, ensuring seamless integration and consistent user experiences across platforms.

The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $114,900 to $168,700 depending on location (Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, or San Francisco), plus potential bonuses and comprehensive benefits. This is a hybrid role, primarily on-site with occasional work from home flexibility.

The ideal candidate will bring 3+ years of client-side development experience, strong knowledge of MVVM architecture, and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. Experience with BrightScript is ideal but not required.
