The Search and Entertainment Platform Services team at Disney is seeking a Software Engineer II to join their backend engineering team focused on powering content discovery experiences across major Disney brands including ESPN, ABC News, National Geographic, and Marvel Unlimited. This role is crucial in building and maintaining data pipelines and core data services that enhance personalization and search features for millions of users.

The position offers an opportunity to work on high-impact projects that directly affect user experience across Disney's digital platforms. As a Software Engineer II, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing solutions that maintain high availability and low latency at scale. The role involves working with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS) and search technologies, particularly AWS OpenSearch.

The team operates in a collaborative environment where you'll work closely with engineers, project managers, and product managers to deliver optimal solutions. Java
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field
  • 3+ years of experience in building highly available architecture
  • Experience with Java and large-scale, high-availability backend services
  • Experience deploying and scaling within AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Understanding of search technologies (AWS OpenSearch)
  • Experience with performance tuning
  • Experience with source control systems and CI/CD pipelines (Git, Github, Jenkins)
  • Experience with AGILE/Scrum practices
  • Experience with observability tools (Datadog and Grafana)
