Description For Software Engineer II

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology (DE&E Technology) is seeking a Software Engineer II to join their Commerce, Growth & Identity (CGI) team. This role will focus on designing and implementing tier-1 microservices in Java, working on cloud-based asynchronous processes, and participating in various aspects of the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement tier-1 microservices in Java
  • Implement asynchronous processes to run in the cloud for data transformation operations
  • Work on tech design for various initiatives and projects
  • Participate in code reviews and architecture reviews
  • Engage in Agile methodology and SCRUM processes
  • Provide on-call support for critical services on a rotational basis
  • Own features/functionality and deliver high-quality projects end-to-end
  • Communicate and work with multi-functional business partners
  • Ramp up on new domains and technologies

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience in backend services development
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
  • Proven track record of driving consensus on backend development using Java
  • Knowledge of at least one object-oriented language
  • Experience working with cloud providers
  • Familiarity with databases (SQL and no-SQL)
  • Experience investigating technical components and taking ownership of feature development
