The Core Data & Services team within the DEET organization is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build out the codebase that powers their foundational datasets and data pipelines. As a key member of the team, you'll be responsible for building and refining shared Scala libraries to enable efficient reusable components across multiple deployments and produce foundational data for Disney's streaming business.

The role involves working with critical infrastructure that enables dozens of engineering and analytical teams to unlock the power of data to drive key business decisions. You'll be expanding, scaling, and standardizing core foundational principles through consistent coding best practices, observability, lineage, data quality, logging, and alerting across all engineering teams.

Key technologies you'll work with include:

  • Scala and Python for core development
  • Apache Spark for data processing
  • Databricks and Airflow for deployment and orchestration
  • Delta Lake and Snowflake for data storage
  • AWS cloud infrastructure

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of software engineering experience with data pipelines, strong algorithmic problem-solving skills, and expertise in Scala and Python. You should be comfortable working with distributed systems like Spark and Kafka, and have experience with orchestration tools like Airflow.

The role offers a chance to make a significant impact on Disney's streaming and media technology infrastructure while working with cutting-edge data engineering tools and practices. You'll be joining a collaborative team focused on quality, scalability, and engineering excellence.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, strong SQL skills, and experience with cloud platforms. Knowledge of AWS, data modeling techniques, and familiarity with GraphQL are preferred but not required.
