Description For Systems Engineer II Broadcast

Disney Streaming Technology is seeking a Systems Engineer II Broadcast to join their Broadcast Infrastructure team. This role is crucial in managing large-scale complex broadcast systems that handle signal acquisition, processing, and normalization of broadcast signals. The position involves working with baseband, IP, and hybrid workflows across DSS on-prem and cloud multimedia datacenters worldwide.

The ideal candidate will lead or support the evaluation, development, design, operation, installation, testing, and life-cycle support of video, audio, RF, baseband, IP, signal processing, transport, and transmission equipment. They will work directly with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues and ensure system functionality.

Key responsibilities include providing technical reports, troubleshooting using specialized equipment, assisting with project planning and documentation, and maintaining system operations. The role requires occasional travel, on-call support, and weekend/overnight availability for maintenance windows.

This position offers competitive compensation with a hiring range of $99,900 to $133,900 in New York and $95,300 to $127,800 in Los Angeles, plus comprehensive benefits and potential bonuses. Responsibilities For Systems Engineer II Broadcast

  • Lead or aid with evaluation, development, design, operation, installation, testing of broadcast systems
  • Provide feedback and technical reports on work progress
  • Utilize test equipment to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Assist with project research, planning, implementation, and documentation
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues
  • Available for on-call support and occasional travel
  • Perform work during maintenance windows including weekends and overnight

Requirements For Systems Engineer II Broadcast

Linux
  • Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3 or more years of professional Broadcast and/or IT experience
  • Highly proficient in both spoken and written English
  • Comprehensive knowledge of video backhaul and distribution
  • Ability to troubleshoot audio and video issues over IP networks
  • Proficient with Mac, Windows, and Linux/Unix operating systems
  • Experience with managing video and audio routing switcher hardware
  • Understanding of A/V signal flows, network topology and the OSI Model
  • Ability to read, interpret and modify system design documentation
  • Lifting of heavy objects up to 50 lbs
