Description For Assembler Developer

DMV IT Service LLC is seeking an experienced Assembler Developer to join their team in a remote contract position. This role is crucial for maintaining and modernizing legacy systems, specifically focusing on IBM z/OS assembly language programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing, maintaining, and enhancing legacy codebases while working with critical business systems.

The position requires expertise in IBM mainframe architecture and assembly language programming, with a strong focus on working with IRS systems and data formats. You'll be instrumental in extracting and documenting business rules from legacy systems, ensuring accurate code migration, and maintaining system integrity through proper version control and batch processing procedures.

As an Assembler Developer, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to bridge the gap between legacy systems and modern applications. Your work will directly impact the successful modernization of critical business systems while ensuring continued functionality of existing processes. Responsibilities For Assembler Developer

  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and improve legacy assembly language code on IBM z/OS platforms
  • Extract and document business rules embedded in assembly code
  • Work with IRS Core Record Layouts (CRL) and QSAM data formats
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure proper migration of legacy system logic
  • Use CA Endevor Software Change Manager for version control
  • Employ BMC Control-M for automating batch job scheduling

Requirements For Assembler Developer

Java
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of IBM z/OS assembly language
  • Familiarity with IBM mainframe architecture components
  • Experience with IRS Core Record Layouts (CRL) and QSAM/VSAM data formats
  • Proficient in using CA Endevor SCM
  • Experienced with BMC Control-M for job scheduling
  • Familiarity with mainframe development tools
  • Working knowledge of DB2
  • Basic understanding of Java programming
