Sr. UI Engineer

Calcite is a design system and developer platform used by product teams and Esri's external partners to craft engaging and consistent user experiences across web mapping applications. As a Principal UI Engineer, you'll be responsible for driving UI component consistency between Figma and coded components while ensuring accessibility compliance. You'll work closely with product teams to expand Calcite foundations based on common needs, manage design tokens, and create interactive prototypes for new components.

The role involves implementing Calcite components, contributing to documentation, and helping expand Calcite beyond web components to support native mobile technology. You'll foster education and best practices between Design and Engineering communities, maintain documentation, and participate in design systems conferences.

Key responsibilities include:

• Driving UI component consistency and accessibility compliance
• Managing design tokens and Figma integration
• Creating interactive prototypes for new components
• Implementing components based on design specifications
• Contributing to documentation and usage guidelines
• Expanding Calcite to support native mobile technology
• Fostering education and best practices

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience delivering web and mobile products, expert knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and a proven record in building or managing design systems. You should be passionate about continuous improvement and have excellent communication skills.
