Description For Staff Blockchain Engineer

Ex Populus, an ambitious game development studio led by industry veterans from Pixar, Ubisoft, Activision, Blizzard, and more, is seeking a Staff Blockchain Engineer to join their remote team. As the first developer to deploy games on the Xai Blockchain, Ex Populus is at the forefront of blockchain gaming innovation.

In this role, you'll contribute to building a fully autonomous world on Xai, the first L3 in the Arbitrum ecosystem. You'll be working on two highly anticipated games, Final Form and LAMOverse, while collaborating with a team of experienced professionals who collectively boast 3 Oscar, 12 Emmy, and 7 Annie nominations.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of industry experience, with a strong background in blockchain technologies, particularly EVM environments and Solidity. You should have experience with dApps or protocols that have shipped and scaled, as well as knowledge of cross-chain messaging protocols and upgradable contracts.

As a Staff Blockchain Engineer, you'll lead complex development initiatives, build and review smart contracts, supervise blockchain-based web services, and ensure seamless integration with existing applications. You'll work in an agile environment, adapting to changing requirements and delivering high-quality results within tight timelines.

This remote position offers the flexibility of working from home, with 2-3 team meetups per year. You'll need to be available for 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with at least 4 hours overlapping with the Vancouver, Canada (Pacific Timezone) team.

Responsibilities For Staff Blockchain Engineer

  • Leading the development of large, complex, business-critical development initiatives
  • Building smart contracts and ensuring that all timelines and expectations are met
  • Reviewing smart contracts for security and functionality
  • Supervising web services that use blockchain technology
  • Integrating Solidity code across platforms
  • Managing the full lifecycle of blockchain development
  • Ensuring blockchain integration with existing applications
  • Translating requirements into complicated but clean and efficient code
  • Designing, developing, and testing blockchain systems
  • Architecting solutions that solve high priority business problems effectively and efficiently
  • Working in an agile development environment, adapting to changing requirements, and delivering high-quality results within tight timelines
  • Mentoring & upleveling those around you

Requirements For Staff Blockchain Engineer

  • 7+ years of industry experience in software engineering
  • Advanced understanding of EVM environments and solidity
  • Experience working on dApps or protocols that have both shipped and scaled
  • Understanding of cross-chain messaging protocols
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience building upgradable contracts via UUPS, Transparent Proxies, and/or Diamonds
  • Fluent in English
  • Able to work 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with at least 4 hours per weekday available to work with the team in Vancouver, Canada (Pacific Timezone)
  • Demonstrated experience working with non-standard, completely custom smart contracts
