As a Senior Platform Engineer focusing on Infrastructure & Security, you'll join a team backed by prestigious investors including Bessemer Venture Partners and Y Combinator.
The role demands an experienced engineer with 5+ years in DevOps/SRE to lead critical infrastructure and security initiatives. You'll work with TypeScript-based microservices and serverless functions, managing Kubernetes clusters on AWS while utilizing tools like Helm, GitHub Actions, and Terraform.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $170K-$205K depending on location tier, plus equity. As a key technical contributor, you'll be responsible for the stability, resiliency, security, and performance of Fieldguide's multinational cloud platform. The role involves designing infrastructure, conducting code reviews, serving as a subject matter expert, and coordinating with other teams on major initiatives like multi-region deployments.
Ideal candidates should have experience with high-uptime distributed environments, cloud platforms (preferably AWS), container architectures (Kubernetes), and strong programming skills in TypeScript, Python, or Go. Additional valuable experience includes distributed system reliability testing, web application observability, and vector storage tools.
Responsibilities For Senior Platform Engineer, Infrastructure & Security
- Serve as a steward of our platform by designing, implementing, and testing our infrastructure to meet our application feature and scalability goals
- Foster a learning culture within the team by conducting code reviews, root cause analysis, and continuous learning exercises
- Serve as a subject matter expert on our infrastructure to other teams seeking to build their services upon it
- Coordinate closely with the Application pillar in our Platform team as we tackle major initiatives like multi-region deployments and telemetry improvements
Requirements For Senior Platform Engineer, Infrastructure & Security
- 5+ years of total experience in SRE, DevOps, platform, or infrastructure roles
- Experience with high-uptime, globally distributed environments and IaC principles
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
- Experience with container runtime architectures, preferably Kubernetes
- Proficiency with at least one programming language, preferably Typescript, Python, or Go
- Experience leveraging network and security concepts to meet business compliance needs
- Experience with relational database design and administration
- 1+ year in a startup environment or interest in working at a startup
