Description For Senior Well Intervention Engineer

The Senior Well Intervention Engineer at FIRST Exploration & Petroleum Development Company is responsible for planning and executing well intervention and completion operations, ensuring adherence to HSE, technical, regulatory, and commercial standards. This role focuses on enhancing oil and gas production through operational and technical excellence in all Well Intervention and Completion (WIC) activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing WIC plans for well testing, completion, and stimulation operations
  • Optimizing production across operated wells within the assets
  • Planning, monitoring, and optimizing well testing, stimulation, wellhead maintenance, and workover operations
  • Providing support to the Assistant GM of Well Engineering
  • Maintaining performance management initiatives for all well intervention activities
  • Leading contractor performance reviews and service company audits
  • Mentoring young staff and ensuring proper training for equipment operators
  • Maintaining relationships with regulatory bodies, industry partners, and service companies
  • Managing WIC-related budgets and forecasting expenditures
  • Developing and implementing the Company Well Integrity Management programme
  • Preparing specifications and scopes of work for completion/well testing/workover equipment and services
  • Participating in the Company well delivery process and providing input to conceptual well designs
  • Performing periodic site visits to ensure operations align with Company policies and industry best practices

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A university degree (Bachelor's) or HND in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in similar capacities
  • Valid IWCF / WIPC (combined supervisory levels 2, 3, 4, & 5) certificate or equivalent
  • Demonstrated success in fostering continuous improvement in well costs and productivity
  • Strong leadership skills in managing employees, contractors, and vendors
  • Excellent technical skills, including the ability to translate complex issues into simple solutions
  • Strong business acumen with a focus on driving bottom-line results
  • Effective team and personal skills, including the ability to mentor subordinates and drive professional development
