Description For Battery Systems Engineer

Fluence, a leader in stationary energy storage systems, is seeking a Battery Systems Engineer to join their team in China. This hybrid role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge battery technology for energy storage solutions.

As a Battery Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the design, development, specification, and evaluation of ESS Li-ion batteries. You'll be a key member of a team focused on specifying and evaluating supplier-developed systems and components, and integrating them into Fluence's stationary energy storage systems.

Your role will involve defining and managing requirements with suppliers and internal partners, serving as both a technical leader and project manager. You'll work closely with Core Engineering, Project Management, and Product teams to develop hardware and software requirements, lead supplier development and integration, and manage battery system testing and validation.

This position requires a strong background in high-voltage battery systems, with at least 7 years of experience in their design and development. You should have a B.S. in Engineering and possess a broad knowledge of various engineering disciplines, including electrical, electronics, controls, mechanical, thermal, materials, safety, test/validation, and manufacturing.

The ideal candidate will have experience with requirements management and test tracking tools, strong analytical skills for data-driven decision making, and excellent technical communication abilities. A passion for battery technology and a collaborative mindset are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities For Battery Systems Engineer

  • Manage hardware and software requirements development, working with Core Engineering, Project Management, and Product teams
  • Lead and manage battery system supplier development and integration into Fluence Energy Storage Systems
  • Manage and coordinate battery system development and validation testing
  • Work with project/product management to track and maintain schedule
  • Develop a deep understanding of the supplier system and solutions to manage and communicate technical risks

Requirements For Battery Systems Engineer

Java
  • B.S. in Engineering
  • 7+ years in the design and development of high-voltage battery systems
  • Strong knowledge of system engineering principles
  • Technical knowledge in various engineering disciplines (Electrical, Electronics, Controls, Mechanical, Thermal, Materials, Safety, Test/Validation, Manufacturing)
  • Experience with requirements management and test tracking tools (Jira, Jama, Doors, TestRail, etc.)
  • Ability to utilize data and statistical analyses to make design decisions
  • Strong technical communication skills
  • Passion for batteries, sharing know-how, and learning from others
