Fluence is seeking an experienced BMS Engineer to lead the development of next-generation Battery Management Systems. This role combines hardware and software expertise, focusing on developing sophisticated battery management solutions for energy storage systems. The position involves working with cutting-edge technology in battery management, including Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) functions, firmware development, and system architecture design. As a senior member of the team, you'll be responsible for ensuring the safety, performance, and reliability of battery systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role offers an opportunity to work on innovative energy storage solutions, combining electrical engineering with embedded systems development. Located in either Berlin or Erlangen, Germany, this hybrid position requires 9+ years of experience and offers the chance to work at the intersection of renewable energy and advanced battery technology. Responsibilities For BMS Engineer
- Lead the development and implementation of next-generation Battery Management Systems (BMS) for advanced battery energy storage solutions
- Design and integrate pack-level BMS Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) functions to enhance safety and performance
- Plan, conduct, and oversee the development testing of BMS
- Characterize BMS components and systems through rigorous testing
- Ensure seamless integration of electrical components with BMS
- Develop and refine the system architecture for BMS
- Oversee the development and optimization of BMS firmware
- Implement advanced diagnostics and monitoring features within the BMS
- Ensure all BMS designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Prepare comprehensive documentation for BMS designs, tests, and validation processes
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to BMS performance and integration
- Work closely with cross-functional teams
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in BMS design
Requirements For BMS Engineer
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Extensive experience in the development and integration of Battery Management Systems (BMS)
- Strong understanding of pack-level BMS Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) functions
- Proficiency in BMS development testing and characterization methodologies
- Experience with electrical/BMS integration in battery energy storage systems
- Knowledge of system architecture and firmware development for BMS
- Familiarity with diagnostics, monitoring, and fault detection features in BMS
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- Proven track record of successful project management and delivery
