Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering assignments for architectural cladding projects
  • Conduct structural reviews of shop drawings
  • Prepare window/curtain wall calculations for professional engineer's stamp
  • Evaluate system mock-ups for structural behavior
  • Develop automated calculation worksheets for system components
  • Carry out site visits and evaluate system structural performance
  • Supervise or coordinate work of other technical support personnel

Requirements:

  • University degree in Civil or Structural engineering or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and structural programs like SAP 2000
  • Knowledge of load calculations, building envelope science, and curtain wall systems
  • Understanding of North American Codes and Standards (NBCC, OBC, AAMA, CSA A440, CSA S157)
  • Strong communication skills

Responsibilities For Structural Engineer (Building Envelope Systems)

  • Perform engineering assignments with clear and specified objectives, involving conventional types of plans and specifications, related to the architectural cladding industry
  • Engages in analysis and computations necessary to execute assignments in accordance with standard formulas, tables, etc. as required
  • Provides internal structural reviews of shop drawings against project specifications and applicable codes and provides feedback and advises drafting on structural information as required
  • Prepare submission copy of window/ curtain wall calculations for professional engineer's stamp
  • Evaluate, as required, system mock-ups for structural behavior against performance
  • Develop, as necessary, automated calculation worksheets for analysis and design of different system components, continuous beam analysis and anchor systems as required to facilitate routine and repetitive functions
  • Clear understanding of the National Building Code of Canada as it relates to structural requirements
  • Carry out site visits and evaluate actual system structural performance as required
  • May supervise or coordinate the work of other technical support personnel

Requirements For Structural Engineer (Building Envelope Systems)

  • University degree in Civil or Structural engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Proficient with computer aided software such as MS Office and AutoCad
  • Knowledge of load calculations, building envelope science, rain screen principal and curtain wall systems
  • Knowledge and use of Structural programs i.e. SAP 2000
  • Understanding of North American Codes and Standards related to the Architectural Cladding Industry, i.e. NBCC, OBC, AAMA, CSA A440 and CSA S157
  • Strong communication skills
