Description For Staff Materials Engineer

Form Energy is hiring a Staff Materials Engineer to join their world-class Anode Design and Performance Team. This role involves characterizing, testing, and creating specifications for new iron electrode materials and processes in collaboration with various teams. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in electrochemically-focused materials engineering, demonstrated experience in building property-performance relationships for battery materials, and hands-on practical experience with electrochemical systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prioritizing safety in electrochemical testing and battery operation processes
  • Creating materials specifications for electrode components
  • Leading project teams to develop new anode materials and processes
  • Designing and executing electrochemical tests
  • Characterizing electrode materials and developing new techniques
  • Mentoring and supporting team members

The role requires excellent communication and organizational skills, experience with experimental design and statistical software, and a Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field (PhD preferred).

  • Characterize electrode materials pre and post-test
  • Mentor, guide, and support team members

Requirements For Staff Materials Engineer

  • 7+ years of experience in electrochemically-focused materials engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in building property-performance relationships for battery materials
  • Hands-on practical experience with electrochemical systems, particularly in deployed and/or market-ready products
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with experimental design and statistical software such as JMP or Minitab
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field (PhD preferred)
