GE Aerospace's John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Advanced Design Tools organization. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on Next Generation Engines, combining mechanical engineering expertise with software development. The position involves developing software tools for Mechanical Airfoil design and analysis, with a focus on understanding complex behavior of Composite blades.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing physics-based tools to address challenging design needs for next-generation engines. The role requires close collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and GE Aerospace's design boards to create innovative physics-based software solutions. You'll work at JFWTC, established in 2000, which has contributed to hundreds of aviation patents and pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.

The position reports to the Subsection Manager of Airfoil & Nacelle Design Tools Subsection at GE Aerospace, JFWTC, Bangalore. You'll be working with CAD and CAE applications like NX and ANSYS, implementing solutions within GE Aerospace's platform and framework. The role demands strong technical skills in both mechanical engineering and software development, with particular emphasis on structural analysis, simulation, and composite modeling.

Responsibilities For Senior Software Engineer - Composite Fan Tools

  • Work closely with design engineers and technical experts to understand design process problems
  • Develop solutions, create POCs and validate solutions
  • Implement solutions using CAD and CAE applications like NX, ANSYS
  • Create user interface specifications for enhancement requests
  • Ensure on-time project deliverables & resolution of bugs
  • Validate, review, and document analytical tools and methods
  • Follow standard SDLC process for tool releases and updates

Requirements For Senior Software Engineer - Composite Fan Tools

Python
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical engineering
  • 5-6 years of overall experience (minimum 3 years in mechanical engineering domain)
  • Good understanding of structural analysis physics, simulation, and geometry
  • Knowledge of Engineering fundamentals and aircraft engine understanding
  • Minimum 3 years of software development experience using APDL, C++
  • Experience in Mechanical simulation using ANSYS or equivalent software
  • Knowledge of Composites Modelling and Analysis
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in cross-functional environments
