Description For Data Engineer – Grid Innovation Applications

GE Vernova is seeking a Data Engineer to join their Grid Innovation team, focusing on designing and maintaining data infrastructure for AI/ML applications in the energy domain. This role is part of the CTO organization, reporting to the AI Leader, and involves close collaboration with Grid Automation product lines and R&D teams.

The position combines technical expertise in data engineering with domain knowledge in energy systems and smart infrastructure. The ideal candidate will build and optimize data pipelines, manage database architectures, and ensure seamless data flow for mission-critical systems. They will work with various data storage technologies, including relational databases, data lakes, and NoSQL solutions.

Key responsibilities include designing database schemas, implementing data quality checks, automating workflows, and collaborating with data scientists and ML engineers. The role requires expertise in Python, SQL, and database management, along with understanding of cloud platforms and ETL processes.

Responsibilities For Data Engineer – Grid Innovation Applications

  • Design and maintain database architectures, schemas, and data models for grid innovation
  • Build and optimize data pipelines for data ingestion, cleaning, and transformation
  • Develop and manage integrations with internal and external data sources and APIs
  • Automate data integration and transformation workflows
  • Monitor performance and scalability of data systems
  • Apply data governance policies and implement data quality checks
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists and ML Engineers
  • Work with product management and R&D teams on innovative data solutions
