General Motors is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Robotics to join their Vision And Automation Services (VAAS) organization within GM IT. The position is based in Austin, Texas, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring at least three days per week at the Austin Innovation Center. As a Senior Software Robotics Engineer, you'll be responsible for driving the adoption of Robotics Software Engineering across the Manufacturing IT organization, focusing on improving manufacturing productivity and efficiency.
The role combines expertise in robotics, software engineering, and advanced technologies including ML/DL, Computer Vision, and Simulation. You'll work on designing prototypes, building and testing robot cells, and developing real-time software applications. The position requires strong technical skills in Python, Java, ROS, and computer vision, along with a solid understanding of physics, mechanical, electrical, and mathematical concepts.
Key responsibilities include developing ML/DL solutions for real-world environments, implementing computer vision solutions, creating simulations, and designing scalable solutions. You'll work collaboratively with Junior and Staff Robotics Software Engineers and Manufacturing Engineering business partners to deliver innovative solutions to complex problems.
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in robotics software development, along with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Additional preferred qualifications include experience with cloud technologies, Linux, various programming languages, and real-time systems.
