Software Engineer, Vision (6 month Fixed Term Contract)

At Google DeepMind, we're seeking a Software Engineer with strong technical skills in web-based user interfaces and backend data management for large file size data exchange. This 6-month fixed-term contract role focuses on building an independent pipeline to integrate hardware sensors with user interfaces and backend models for efficient post-processing and reviewing of captured data.

Key responsibilities include:

• Understanding project needs by engaging with the research team
• Developing, testing, and delivering an independent codebase for connecting hardware sensors to post-processed data
• Providing feedback on project progress and updating plans based on team input
• Documenting and preparing code for use beyond the contract duration

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience in developing Google Cloud-based services and user-friendly web interfaces
• Knowledge of working with medium-sized data from various sensors (cameras, microphones, etc.)
• Interest in interfacing with users, working from user feedback, and multimodal data collection
• Familiarity with multimodal AI models and using off-the-shelf models for efficient data analysis

Additional advantages include:

• Experience with computer vision tools and deploying off-the-shelf models on Google Cloud
• Interest in working with hardware and establishing pipelines for safe data upload and storage
