Control Systems Engineer, Machine Learning, Data Centers

Google is seeking a Control Systems Engineer specializing in Machine Learning for their Data Centers team. This role is part of the Data Center Engineering team, which focuses on advancing the physical design of data centers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in control systems, machine learning, and programming. They will be responsible for researching and developing new algorithms to optimize data center efficiency, designing control algorithms for electrical and mechanical stability, and conducting statistical analysis for data center controls. The position requires collaboration with the Engineering team to implement proposed strategies and algorithms.

The role offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly facilities. The engineer will be involved in complex topics such as power usage optimization and facility operations. They will generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives, and work alongside facilities technicians to implement solutions.

Key qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field, with at least one year of experience in designing and implementing control systems. Proficiency in machine learning and algorithm construction is essential, as is programming experience in languages such as C, Python, MATLAB, or Shell.

Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree (Master's or PhD), experience with modeling/statistical software like TensorFlow or Simulink, digital signal processing skills, and knowledge of optimization techniques. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-disciplinary teams.
