Join Google's ML, Systems & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization as a CPU Logic Design Engineer, where you'll be at the forefront of developing custom silicon solutions that power Google's direct-to-consumer products. This role combines advanced hardware engineering with cloud computing innovation, focusing on CPU frontend designs and microarchitecture development.

As part of the team, you'll work on next-generation CPU development, emphasizing performance optimization and efficiency. The position requires expertise in digital logic at the RTL level and a deep understanding of processor architecture. You'll collaborate with architects and performance teams to evaluate and implement microarchitecture enhancements, ensuring designs meet strict power, performance, and area (PPA) goals.

The role is ideal for PhD graduates in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science who are passionate about pushing the boundaries of processor design. You'll be contributing to the infrastructure that powers Google's global services, including Search, YouTube, and Google Cloud, while working alongside world-class engineers in a dynamic, innovative environment.

  • Contribute to CPU frontend designs, emphasizing on microarchitecture and RTL design for the next generation CPU
  • Propose performance enhancing microarchitecture features with efficiency in mind
  • Work with architects and performance teams for trade-off studies
  • Communicate pros and cons of microarchitecture enhancements
  • Facilitate final decision making
  • Deliver designs meeting Power, performance, and area (PPA) goals with production quality
  • Become familiar with techniques for at least one processor functional block
  • Interpret the techniques into design constructs and languages to provide guidance to and participate in the performance modeling effort

Requirements For CPU Logic Design Engineer, Google Cloud, PhD, University Graduate, Start 2025

Linux
  • PhD degree Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience digital logic at Register Transfer Level (RTL) level using SystemVerilog or VHDL
  • Experience in Design/microarchitecture
