Data Center System Architect

Google is seeking a Data Center System Architect to join their Technical Infrastructure team in Seattle. This role combines deep expertise in data center design with a focus on AI/ML infrastructure optimization. The position requires architecting and optimizing data centers for large-scale AI/ML deployments, with particular emphasis on GPU/TPU architecture and system integration. The successful candidate will work on developing innovative Data Center architectures that enable state-of-the-art technologies, are efficient to operate, and globally deployable.

The role involves leading investigations and innovations in IT rack integration into Data centers, focusing on full stack optimization of IT and Data Center design, particularly for ML applications. You'll be responsible for defining, implementing, and maintaining critical Data Center system architecture and interfaces between product areas. This position is crucial for Google's infrastructure future, as it involves enabling new infrastructure technology and IT technology insertion into a modular data center portfolio.

As part of the Technical Infrastructure team, you'll work behind the scenes to keep Google's vast network of services running smoothly. The team takes pride in being "engineers' engineers" and isn't afraid to void warranties to rebuild things better. This role offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $171,000-$254,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

The ideal candidate will bring 10 years of experience in AI/ML and data center infrastructure, with a strong background in designing and optimizing data centers for ML systems. You'll need to demonstrate expertise in cost and performance modeling, deep knowledge of data center infrastructure components, and stay current with emerging trends in ML hardware and software.
