Google Cloud Storage (GCS) is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead their Storage Management pillar, a critical initiative focused on managing trillions of objects and tens of thousands of projects. This senior leadership role will be based in Hyderabad, India, overseeing teams across multiple locations including Seattle.
The position requires an experienced engineering leader with 15+ years of technical experience and 10+ years of leadership experience. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in cloud services, storage systems, and enterprise solutions. They will be responsible for leading a large engineering organization of 100+ engineers, defining strategic direction, and delivering innovative storage management solutions for GCS customers.

Responsibilities For Director, Engineering, GCS Storage Management
- Lead a software engineering team of 100+ software engineers across two sites
- Oversee a portfolio of GCS products and components
- Work cross-functionally within the broader engineering community and Product Management to deliver solutions
- Partner closely with cross-functional leads to define future vision, strategy, and solutions
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders across Google, including senior leaders
- Contribute to the long-term strategy and innovation of Google Cloud Storage and Infrastructure
- Be a strategic thought leader and work closely with customer-facing Googlers, partners, and customers
Requirements For Director, Engineering, GCS Storage Management
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 15 years of experience in engineering, and 10 years of experience leading organizations of engineers
- Experience delivering hyperscale cloud services to Enterprise customers
- Experience working with supplier and partner teams to build solutions
- Experience within storage, cloud services, or platform development
- Experience operating within and leading cross-functional teams
- Experience working with partners and developing relationships, ideally in storage products
- Ability to explain complex business or technical challenges
- Ability to operate in a complex, fast-moving environment
- Excellent strategic thinking with a big-picture mindset
