Description For Engineering Director, Core Hybrid Platforms

Google is seeking an Engineering Director to lead the Core Hybrid Platforms (CHP) team, focusing on removing barriers to organic adoption of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and other public cloud technologies within Alphabet. This is a senior leadership role that combines technical strategy with team leadership, requiring 15+ years of engineering leadership experience.

The role involves building and driving adoption of platforms that enable Alphabet's product areas, Bets, and acquisitions to build hybrid and cloud-native systems with robust security and privacy controls. The position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate across Google to address complex software engineering, security, and privacy challenges while expanding Alphabet's ability to innovate using public cloud capabilities.

As Engineering Director, you'll lead a team of software, security, and privacy engineers, defining technical strategy and implementing platforms for safe public cloud usage. The role requires expertise in cloud infrastructure, security controls, networking, reliability engineering, and AI/ML. You'll work closely with engineering, product management, and PMO teams to deliver comprehensive solutions.

The position offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $294,000 to $414,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. The role is based in either Sunnyvale, CA or Seattle, WA, working with Google's Core team, which builds the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned technical leader to make a significant impact on Google's cloud infrastructure and security practices while leading a high-performing team in a dynamic, innovative environment.
