Description For Epitaxy Process Engineer, Augmented Reality

Google's Raxium display group is at the forefront of revolutionary semiconductor materials display technology, specifically focused on augmented reality (AR) and light-field display applications. As an Epitaxy Process Engineer, you'll be joining a team that develops custom silicon solutions for Google's direct-to-consumer products. The role involves driving epitaxial growth processes for micro LED technology at scale, ensuring smooth process operations and manufacturing methodology.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $147,000-$216,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Based in Fremont, CA, you'll work in a state-of-the-art compound semiconductor fab with start-up roots. The role requires extensive collaboration with epitaxial engineering and operations teams, combined with strong problem-solving abilities and data analysis skills.

Key responsibilities include developing and improving novel epitaxy processes from concept to volume manufacturing, working with the Epitaxial Engineering team on process stability and control, analyzing experimental and production datasets, and managing in-line metrology tools and measurements.

The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years of experience in epitaxial growth engineering, with a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields. Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree, experience in process development, material characterization, and understanding of MOCVD.

  • Develop, own and continuously improve novel epitaxy processes from concept, development and into volume manufacturing scale
  • Work with the Epitaxial Engineering team to develop systems and methodologies to drive process stability and control
  • Analyze experimental and production datasets to gain insights in epitaxial processes
  • Work with software, operations and epitaxial engineering to improve process capabilities
  • Work on, own in-line metrology tools and measurements

Requirements For Epitaxy Process Engineer, Augmented Reality

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 4 years of experience working in an epitaxial growth engineering technical environment
  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics or Material Science, or a related field (preferred)
  • Experience in process development (preferred)
  • Experience in material characterization including optical and structural characterization techniques (preferred)
  • Understanding of Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) (preferred)
