Description For Hardware Testing Engineer, Technical Infrastructure

Google's Technical Infrastructure team is seeking a Hardware Testing Engineer to join their team responsible for ensuring the reliability of Google's custom-designed machines. This role involves working in R&D labs to design test equipment for prototypes and developing protocols for global team scaling. The position requires collaboration with design engineers to improve hardware quality and reliability standards.

The role focuses on leveraging testing experience and hardware design knowledge for data center deployment and servicing. You'll work directly with design engineering teams to provide insights into product design that ensure scalable adoption of new technologies. The Technical Infrastructure team is crucial in maintaining Google's vast computing infrastructure, from developing and maintaining data centers to building next-generation Google platforms.

Responsibilities For Hardware Testing Engineer, Technical Infrastructure

  • Validate NPI systems against technical requirements that span the journey of an L10/L11 system from the Data Center loading dock to installation to production to decommissioning
  • Author detailed, product-specific test plans based on data center-centric insights into product design, software tools, and process workflows
  • Create, modify, or deprecate verification tests that reflect changes to the technical requirements
  • Ensure on time delivery of test cases while gathering critical data and documenting test life cycle and identify and implement opportunities for leveraging automation
  • Communicate product risks uncovered by the verification tests to cross-functional team of engineers

Requirements For Hardware Testing Engineer, Technical Infrastructure

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 3 years of experience with hardware testing, process validation, or software testing
  • Experience with the overall systems integration process and the validation of those systems
