Description For Network Implementation Engineer, Production Network Implementation

Google is seeking a Network Implementation Engineer to join their Production Network Implementation team. This role is crucial in executing the deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. As the initial point of contact, you'll work with various teams including Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, and Field Engineers, as well as external vendors and contractors.

The position is based in The Dalles, OR, and offers a competitive salary range of $93,000-$136,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. The role requires 2 years of experience in DWDM, TCP/IP, or system design operations methodology, along with a bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or a related field.

You'll be part of Google's Network Team, responsible for operating the network that serves millions of Internet users globally. The team manages the full lifecycle of space, power, and network assets in Google's data centers and metro points of presence worldwide. From site acquisition to construction, architecture, design, installation, and commissioning, you'll be involved in creating the world's most reliable and scalable network.

Key responsibilities include building and operating Google's network at scale, executing network deployments, developing cost-effective solutions, monitoring network health, and maintaining comprehensive documentation. You'll work in a collaborative environment focused on delivering positive outcomes for the business and customers.

Responsibilities For Network Implementation Engineer, Production Network Implementation

  • Build and operate Google's network reliably and at scale
  • Execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide
  • Develop creative approaches and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep operational costs low
  • Monitor the network and repair issues while anticipating needs and escalating issues
  • Own network documentation, update and maintain network designs and plans

Requirements For Network Implementation Engineer, Production Network Implementation

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience in DWDM, TCP/IP, or system design operations methodology
  • Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment
  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations
