Google's Network Infrastructure team is seeking a Network Operations Engineer to join their Google Wide Area Network (gWAN) Build and Safety team. This role involves planning, designing, and building Google's global private WAN network, which enables all of Google's technical infrastructure.
As a Network Operations Engineer, you will:
- Provide high-touch operational support for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) customers and peers
- Help customers resolve issues with network services and assist with troubleshooting connectivity and performance problems
- Validate and test customer configurations in an Interoperability lab environment
- Write workflow automation to improve the customer experience
- Participate in on-call rotation for escalated issues
- Lead improvements in documentation, playbooks, and training for support organizations and Network Operations Centers (NOCs)
- Deliver process improvements and automated turn-up and service delivery
The ideal candidate should have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Telecom Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
- At least 2 years of experience in Routing protocols, Network troubleshooting, and Multi-protocol Label Switching
- Experience working in a customer-facing role at an Internet Service Provider, carrier, content network, or Content Delivery Network
- Knowledge of cloud networking, Software Defined Networking, and understanding of network operations at scale
- Familiarity with cloud computing, Linux server environments, network design and deployment, and managing large-scale infrastructure
