The position involves working with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, and Field Engineers, as well as external vendors. The Network Team is responsible for operating Google's network that serves millions of users globally, managing the full lifecycle of space, power, and network assets in data centers and metro points of presence. Responsibilities For Network Operations Engineer, Network

  • Build and operate Google's network reliably at scale
  • Execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide
  • Develop creative approaches and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep operational costs low
  • Monitor the network and repair issues while anticipating needs and escalating issues
  • Own network documentation, update and maintain network designs and plans

Requirements For Network Operations Engineer, Network

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology
  • Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment
  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations
