Principal Engineer, BigQuery GenAI

As a Principal Engineer at Google Cloud, you will lead technical direction for teams developing Machine Learning and Generative AI (GenAI) powered data analytics products for BigQuery. You'll work closely with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to leverage GenAI's full potential in creating innovative features. Your role involves guiding teams to build tools and platforms that empower BigQuery users to extract more value and make better-informed decisions from data.

You'll be responsible for setting and communicating clear technical direction aligned with business goals, driving engineering excellence standards for scale and customer satisfaction, and collaborating effectively across various functions. The role requires tackling complex technical and operational challenges, mentoring other leaders and individual contributors, and contributing to Google Cloud's culture of respect and diversity of opinion.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Leading technical direction for multiple teams across the data analytics spectrum
2. Collaborating with product management to define product roadmaps
3. Working with designers to create user-friendly data analytics interfaces
4. Ensuring GenAI-powered products align with overall business goals
5. Staying current with the latest trends in Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence

The ideal candidate will have:

• A Bachelor's or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 15+ years of engineering leadership experience
• 10+ years in entrepreneurial environments, scaling new products
• 5+ years working with Machine Learning, AI, and Large Language Models
• Experience in data analytics, Business Intelligence, and bringing innovative products to market
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
