Description For Program Manager, Data Center Construction

As a Program Manager at Google, you'll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects in data center construction from start to finish. You'll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate with cross-functional partners. The role involves managing large and small scale data centers, computer farms, networking, AC and DC power distribution/conversion, and cooling methods at multiple scales. You'll coordinate the needs of multiple partner teams while keeping projects on schedule and budget. This position is part of the Technical Infrastructure team, which is responsible for developing and maintaining Google's data centers and building the next generation of Google platforms. The ideal candidate should have experience in project management, engineering, and construction of data centers or mission critical facilities, with knowledge in areas such as electrical, mechanical, controls, security monitoring, fire safety, or networking/fiber. Responsibilities For Program Manager, Data Center Construction

  • Manage data center retrofit/upgrade/renovation projects from inception through to completion
  • Support special research and development experiments, renovations, and upgrades of an existing facility
  • Be responsible for gathering internal requirements and delivering solutions that satisfy customer needs
  • Maintain end-to-end responsibility from construction to deployment
  • Resolve highly critical issues within matrix organization while maintaining adherence to project timelines and costs

Requirements For Program Manager, Data Center Construction

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience in program or project management
  • 2 years of experience with technical teams in project management, engineering, and construction of data centers or mission critical facilities
  • 2 years of experience in either electrical, mechanical, controls, security monitoring, fire safety, or networking/fiber
