Description For Research Scientist, Health AI

Google's Health AI team is seeking a Research Scientist to join their impact-driven research team. The mission is to catalyze the adoption of human-centered AI in healthcare and medicine. As a Research Scientist, you'll work on real-world problems spanning computer science, including machine learning, natural language processing, and more. You'll setup large-scale tests, deploy promising ideas, and manage deadlines while applying the latest theories to develop new and improved products, processes, or technologies.

The role involves collaborating with diverse teams, including onsite clinicians, product managers, and other research/engineering teams in Google Research, as well as partner teams in Search, YouTube, and Gemini. You'll develop and improve AI models on challenging health-related tasks, such as grounding and medical factuality, automated clinical evaluations, video/audio understanding, and multi-turn discussions on consumer health topics.

Key responsibilities include managing data analysis/curation, developing research infrastructure, performing experiments, and conducting detailed evaluations from both research and product perspectives. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to the wider research community by sharing and publishing your findings.

The ideal candidate should have a PhD in Computer Science or a related field, experience in Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, or Large Language Models, and a track record of scientific publications. Preferred qualifications include coding experience in Python, Java, or C++, experience in owning and initiating research agendas, and knowledge of the medical domain.
