Description For Senior CPU Performance Architect

Google is seeking a Senior CPU Performance Architect to join their hardware team, focusing on developing custom silicon solutions for Google's direct-to-consumer products. This role combines cutting-edge processor architecture with Google's world-renowned AI capabilities to shape the next generation of hardware experiences.

As a Senior CPU Performance Architect, you'll be instrumental in improving processor instruction set architecture and developing innovative microarchitecture features for Google's advanced SoC products. You'll work closely with Google's Android applications and AI teams to analyze and project performance at various design phases. The role requires deep expertise in CPU architecture and leadership skills to guide junior architects while collaborating with various engineering teams.

You'll drive performance correlation and handle both pre-silicon and post-silicon performance optimization.

The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in microprocessor architecture and performance, with strong knowledge of CPU architecture and system software components. Responsibilities For Senior CPU Performance Architect

  • Plan and evaluate ARM's architecture features from both architecture and performance angles
  • Develop a performance model for performance analysis and microarchitecture study
  • Define and write CPU subsystem architecture specifications
  • Lead collaboration with RTL, Design Verification, and Physical Design teams to develop a high performance and efficient CPU implementation
  • Drive performance correlation between the performance model and RTL implementation, including micro-benchmark development and pre-silicon and post-silicon performance bug triage

Requirements For Senior CPU Performance Architect

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience with microprocessor architecture, microarchitecture, performance, and design
  • Experience with performance modeling, analysis, correlation, and workload characterization
  • Experience with CPU architecture (e.g., CPU block)
