Description For Senior Engineering Manager, Cloud Service Mesh

Google Cloud is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Cloud Service Mesh (CSM) team in Bengaluru. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills to drive the development of large-scale distributed systems and manage a team of engineers.

As the Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for owning CSM for Google Distributed Cloud and the off-GCP technical stack. You'll collaborate closely with the gRPC team and establish a charter for the Service Networking team to tackle gRPC proxyless service mesh and gRPC direct path. Your role involves leading the team through various stages, from onboarding to execution and deliveries, while also focusing on sustainable team growth through recruitment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud computing, with experience in open-source technologies like Kubernetes, Envoy, and gRPC. You should be well-versed in L4-L7 networking protocol design and development, as well as load balancers. Proficiency in Go/C++ is essential, along with a track record of owning and delivering large-scale programs and services.

Responsibilities For Senior Engineering Manager, Cloud Service Mesh

  • Lead the Cloud Service Mesh (CSM) team in Bengaluru
  • Own CSM for Google Distributed Cloud and the off-GCP technical stack
