Senior Software Developer, Site Reliability Development, Google Cloud

Google Cloud is seeking a Senior Software Developer for Site Reliability Development to join their team in Waterloo. This role combines software and systems development expertise to build and maintain Google's large-scale distributed systems. As an SRE Developer, you'll be responsible for ensuring Google's services maintain optimal reliability and performance while driving continuous improvement.

The position requires deep technical expertise in distributed systems, software development, and operational excellence. You'll work on complex challenges unique to Google's scale, applying your knowledge of coding, algorithms, and system design. The role involves the complete service lifecycle - from initial design and development through deployment and ongoing maintenance.

The Technical Infrastructure team, which this role is part of, is fundamental to Google's operations, building and maintaining the architecture that powers Google's entire product portfolio. The team takes pride in their engineering excellence and innovative problem-solving approach.

Key responsibilities include system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, launch reviews, and implementing automation to scale systems sustainably. You'll also be involved in measuring and monitoring system health, responding to incidents, and conducting blameless postmortems to drive improvements.
