Senior Software Engineer, LearnX, AI Mode

Google is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their LearnX team, focusing on AI Mode (AIM) integration into Google Search. This role combines software engineering expertise with machine learning, specifically working with Large Language Models (LLMs) to create personalized, interactive educational experiences.

The position offers a competitive base salary range of $166,000-$244,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Based in New York, you'll be at the forefront of transforming how billions of users learn through Google's platforms.

As a senior engineer, you'll lead the development of sophisticated machine learning models, working closely with teams across Google Search, YouTube, Gemini, and DeepMind. The role requires strong expertise in software development, particularly in Python or C++, with significant experience applying ML/AI techniques to real-world problems.

Key responsibilities include training and fine-tuning LLMs, designing data pipelines, and implementing quality evaluation systems. You'll collaborate with Product Technical Leads and Product Managers to define and execute quality goals for AI-powered learning experiences.

The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of software development experience and 3 years of ML/AI application experience. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is required, with advanced degrees (Master's or PhD) preferred. Experience with Search Quality concepts and Natural Language Processing is highly valued.
