Google is seeking a Server Qualification Engineer to join their Hardware Testing Engineering team, focusing on qualifying new servers and specialized hardware for Google's data centers. This role is part of the ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization, which is responsible for the hardware, software, and infrastructure that powers Google's services and Google Cloud.

The position involves working in Google's R&D lab, where you'll plan and execute large-scale tests that support teams globally. You'll collaborate with design engineers to ensure hardware meets Google's stringent standards for quality, reliability, and security. The role requires expertise in hardware testing, computer systems understanding, and strong analytical skills.

Key responsibilities include creating test plans, performing various types of testing (electrical, functional, reliability, and performance), working with external suppliers, and developing test frameworks using Python and shell scripting. You'll be instrumental in maintaining Google's powerful computing infrastructure, one of the largest in the world.

The ideal candidate should have a strong educational background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields, with experience in hardware testing and qualification. They should possess excellent communication skills and be proficient in data collection and analysis.

Responsibilities For Server Qualification Engineer, Cloud

  • Create test plans and coordinate resources across many test environments
  • Perform electrical, functional, reliability, and performance tests
  • Report bugs and drive corrective action
  • Work with ODMs/JDMs to ensure testing meets Google standards
  • Run validation scripts for cross platform x86/ARM/GPU
  • Run common interface test methodology and tool development
  • Test framework script development (python, shell script)

Requirements For Server Qualification Engineer, Cloud

Python
Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in hardware testing or qualification
  • Master's degree in Electrical, or Computer Engineering (preferred)
  • Understanding of computer systems, physical, functional, logical, mechanical, electrical, software, and thermal
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent data collection skills
