Description For Software Engineering Manager, Borg Control Plane

Google is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Borg Control Plane team, a critical component of Google's globally distributed cluster management system. Responsibilities For Software Engineering Manager, Borg Control Plane

  • Manage a team of talented software engineers to deliver the whole lifecycle of services to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
  • Guide and mentor the team, coaching for skill-building, conduct performance reviews, grow the team members, and help them in their career growth
  • Own strategic outcomes for projects/programs by planning, communicating, and ensuring optimization or improvement of process and delivery against team, project, or product Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)
  • Partner with cross-functional peers to influence systems, processes and programs. Provide technical and execution guidance on a number of high-impact efforts
  • Work with Product Areas to understand requirements, oversee mapping of requirements into engineering deliverables

Requirements For Software Engineering Manager, Borg Control Plane

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java)
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role
  • 2 years of experience in people management, supervision/team leadership role
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (preferred)
  • Experience in designing large-scale, distributed systems (preferred)
  • Experience in software engineering with C++ (preferred)
  • Experience with agile project management (preferred)
  • Experience in building infrastructure, simulation, emulation, and development tools (preferred)
