Google Cloud is seeking a Staff Network Engineer to join their Technical Infrastructure team. This role combines deep networking expertise with software engineering to build and maintain Google's massive network infrastructure. You'll be responsible for ensuring the reliability and scalability of networks that serve millions of users worldwide. The position involves working with cutting-edge network technologies, developing software solutions for network management, and collaborating with various cloud teams to optimize network capacity and performance. As part of Google's Technical Infrastructure team, you'll help build and maintain the architecture that powers Google's entire product portfolio. The role offers the opportunity to work on complex networking challenges at unprecedented scale, directly impacting the user experience of Google's global services. The ideal candidate will bring both strong networking fundamentals and software development skills, particularly in languages like Go and Python.

Responsibilities For Staff Network Engineer, Google Cloud

  • Drive the quantifiable analysis of measurements, or data and capacity forecast models for making networks more scalable, efficient, and deliver predictable user experience
  • Evaluate the current inefficiencies, complexities, and flaws in network systems and propose designs, software, and processes to improve them
  • Develop software that improves the performance, safety, transparency, and manageability of network systems
  • Plan and execute cloud capacity additions, streamline the process working across cloud teams in google
  • Monitor and manage google cloud networking capacity in partnership with Google cloud networking teams

Requirements For Staff Network Engineer, Google Cloud

Go
Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of experience with network routing protocols, design and troubleshooting, with network equipment providers
  • 7 years of experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python
  • Experience with planning and designing networks (e.g., multiple sites, multiple products, etc.)
  • Experience with VMware network certifications or equivalent experience in (VCP-NV, VCIX-NV, VCDX-NV)
  • Experience and practical knowledge in VPN technologies
