Description For Strategic Risk Manager, Google Ads

Google's Trust & Safety team is at the forefront of protecting users and partners across all Google products. As a Strategic Risk Manager for Google Ads, you'll be part of the cross-product abuse and crisis management hub, coordinating responses to high-sensitivity escalations. The role involves identifying and tackling safety and integrity challenges across products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads.

You'll work with a diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers to reduce risk and fight abuse across Google's products. The position requires strong analytical skills, crisis management expertise, and the ability to work cross-functionally with various teams. You'll be responsible for developing mitigation strategies, conducting impact assessments, and ensuring swift response during crises.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in data analytics, Trust and Safety, or cybersecurity, with proven ability to manage escalations and work with executive teams. You'll need excellent communication skills and the ability to influence across different organizational levels. Responsibilities For Strategic Risk Manager, Google Ads

  • Identify potential strategic risks to users or Google, conduct impact assessments, and develop mitigation strategies
  • Review past incidents and identify context, root causes, and strategic actions for improvement
  • Foster collaboration across different departments to deliver comprehensive solutions
  • Utilize prioritization framework to consistently work on key issues
  • Participate in and contribute to globally consistent training program for incident response
  • Handle graphic, controversial, and/or upsetting content

Requirements For Strategic Risk Manager, Google Ads

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 7 years of experience in data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, cybersecurity, or related fields
  • Experience with managing escalations and crises, and working with teams and executives
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management across multiple issues
  • Master's degree or PhD (preferred)
  • Experience working with engineering and product teams
  • Experience working closely with policy teams
  • Familiarity with Google products, infrastructure, and types of online abuse
  • Ability to work across time zones, including weekend on-call work
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
