Description For Systems Development Engineer, Observability, Public Sector

Google Public Sector is seeking a Systems Development Engineer (SDE) to manage services and systems at scale for air-gapped cloud environments. The role focuses on observability, automation, and developing tools to fix classes of problems. You'll work closely with operations teams, product teams, and Program Managers to balance quick responses, future development, and meeting business needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and automating production infrastructure
  • Designing and implementing large, complex systems
  • Troubleshooting technical issues and developing recommendations
  • Participating in on-call rotations
  • Contributing to system maintenance and documentation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT-related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in systems automation, design, and implementation
  • Proficiency in Go, Python, Java, or Bash
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Kubernetes experience
  • Linux/Linux Kernel expertise
  • Experience with monitoring solutions (e.g., CheckMK, Grafana, Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus)
  • Networking fundamentals knowledge

Responsibilities For Systems Development Engineer, Observability, Public Sector
