Description For Test Engineer, Google Home Experience

Google's Devices & Services team is seeking a Test Engineer to join their Google Home Experience team. Unlike traditional testing roles, this position focuses on automated testing and tooling development. The role involves building virtual device emulator technology to enhance developer workflows in the connected device domain and developing interoperability frameworks to ensure consistency between device software and partner apps.

As a Test Engineer at Google, you'll be responsible for navigating Google's extensive codebase, identifying potential issues, and designing innovative ways to test software. This isn't a manual testing role - you'll be writing scripts to automate testing processes and creating tools that enable developers to test their own code effectively.

The position combines Google's expertise in AI, Software, and Hardware to create helpful user experiences. You'll be working within the Devices & Services team, which focuses on researching, designing, and developing new technologies to make computing interactions faster, seamless, and more powerful.

The ideal candidate should have strong programming skills in Java and Python, experience with automation testing, and a background in developing test methodologies. You'll be collaborating with cross-functional teams, taking ownership of technical solutions, and contributing to larger project initiatives through various subtasks including analysis, metrics, releases, and documentation.

This role offers the opportunity to impact the quality of Google's growing product suite while working with cutting-edge technology in the connected device domain. You'll be part of a team that follows Google's philosophy of building, breaking, and rebuilding better, contributing directly to the advancement of Google's device ecosystem.
