Google is seeking an experienced Uber Technical Lead for their Spaces Engineering team in Hyderabad. This is a senior technical leadership role focused on driving engineering excellence across the Spaces portfolio. The position combines hands-on technical architecture work with team leadership responsibilities.
As the Technical Lead, you'll partner with Production Tech Leads and US-based Domain Tech leads to create cross-pillar architectures and frameworks that enable long-term product development. You'll be responsible for writing and reviewing architecture documents, overseeing designs for the Hyderabad team, and representing the team in technical forums.
The role requires strong leadership skills as you'll mentor engineers, help grow the team through recruitment, and participate in performance evaluations and promotion discussions. You'll work cross-functionally with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Technical Program Managers to deliver mission-critical impact across Google's campus and data center infrastructure.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineer with at least 8 years of software development experience who excels at both technical architecture and team leadership. You should have deep expertise in data structures/algorithms and a proven track record of testing and launching software products. Experience with Maps and spatial data structures is highly valuable.

Responsibilities For Uber Technical Lead, Spaces Engineering
- Partner with the Spaces Production Tech Leads and US-based Domain Tech lead to drive engineering excellence across the Spaces portfolio
- Create and develop cross-pillar architectures that provide frameworks for long-term product development
- Represent the team in technical forums
- Write and review architecture and design docs
- Oversee designs for the Hyderabad team, driving the Spaces design review program
- Mentor other engineers, ramp up Nooglers, promote engineering excellence
- Recruit engineers to help grow the team
- Participate in Performance rating and promotion discussions
- Work cross-organizationally and cross-functionally to deliver mission-critical impact
Requirements For Uber Technical Lead, Spaces Engineering
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms
- 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products
- 3 years of experience with software design and architecture
- Experience with Maps, data structures that simplify spatially-oriented tools and platforms
- Experience leading a team of engineers in a technical capacity
- Ability to lead and influence stakeholders
- Ability to understand and respect user privacy and protecting S/PII data
- Excellent communication skills, across significant timezone differences
- Excellent time-management skills
