Principal Software Engineer - O11y, Asserts

Grafana Labs is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for their O11y, Asserts team in Spain (Remote). This role is part of the Observability group, focusing on building and operating low-latency microservices in Java and working with databases like Graph DB. The team is responsible for providing automated Root Cause Insights by querying Grafana Cloud Metrics, Traces, and Logs databases and integrating with Grafana platform components.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive technical and business strategy in the Observability department
• Influence product roadmap and drive innovations
• Lead system design and create design documents
• Deliver new features and iterate based on results
• Build and operate critical systems, ensuring reliability and performance
• Participate in on-call rotations
• Mentor and support team members
• Become a subject matter expert in observability products and systems

Requirements:

• Strong experience in Java programming and microservices
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Background in building and deploying SaaS software on cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Experience in operating production services and participating in on-call rotations
• Ability to mentor team members and share knowledge
• Customer-focused approach to product development
• Self-motivated with a bias towards action
