Description For Senior Software Engineer, Adaptive Telemetry

Grafana Labs is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for their Adaptive Telemetry group within the Databases department. This role is part of the team responsible for ensuring all telemetry stored in Grafana's databases is worthy of attention. The position involves working on large-scale, performance-critical services like Adaptive Metrics and Adaptive Logs.

As an Adaptive Telemetry engineer, you'll be engaged in various work streams, including larger projects with other engineers, performance and reliability improvements, code reviews, and participating in on-call rotations. The tech stack primarily consists of services written in Go, running on multiple Kubernetes clusters leveraging Cloud object storage.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Influencing the product roadmap and your career objectives
  • Delivering new features and iterating based on results
  • Driving projects from ideation to operation
  • Designing, building, and maintaining critical systems
  • Participating in on-call rotations
  • Mentoring team members and collaborating on design discussions

The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with a customer focus, able to tackle complex challenges pragmatically, and possess strong collaboration and communication skills. Experience with Go (or similar languages), cloud software development, microservices architectures, and distributed systems is required.
