Description For Support Engineer II

GSK's Onyx Research Data Tech organization is seeking a Support Engineer II to join their team focused on building and maintaining their research data ecosystem. This role is part of GSK's mission to accelerate medical discovery through advanced data solutions. The Support Engineer II will be a technical expert providing solutions to complex issues, working with cutting-edge data platforms and cloud technologies.

The position offers an opportunity to work with GSK's next-generation, metadata- and automation-driven data experience, supporting scientists, engineers, and decision-makers. You'll be part of a full-stack organization that includes product leadership, data engineering, infrastructure and DevOps, and AI/ML platforms.

As a Support Engineer II, you'll be responsible for analyzing and diagnosing technical problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and enhancing product documentation. The role requires strong ownership of customer issues, deep product understanding, and the ability to mentor junior staff. You'll work with modern technologies including Python, Java, and cloud platforms while contributing to GSK's mission of getting ahead of disease.

Responsibilities For Support Engineer II

  • Provide timely, working solutions for customer reported issues
  • Follow best practices in service request lifecycle
  • Identify patterns in customer reported issues and devise solutions
  • Be on-call during weekends on rotation for critical issues
  • Contribute to Knowledge Base and engage with user community
  • Engage in continuous learning for new product releases and technologies

Requirements For Support Engineer II

Python
Java
Kubernetes
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related discipline
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in reading and following code in Python, Java, or Scala
  • 2+ years of experience in technical support and troubleshooting
  • 1+ years of experience with virtual compute technologies and containers
  • 2+ years of experience in supporting data platforms on cloud environments
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
